WG 2. Biomolecular solutions as alternative methods and tools for fish-farm production.Â

WG 3. Fish welfare, horizontal Working Group.Â

WG 4. Sustainability insights, for leveraging R&IÂ

WG 5. Informed creativity, complementary working Group.Â

Highlighted activities

WG 1. Biomolecular solutions for water prophylaxis and biosafety.

  • They held a meeting on Friday, 21st June informing about Orr Shapiro leading the preparation of a review paper/database/GIS map with Simon Weli's and Ario de Marco's help. Also, Izzet Burcin Saticioglu and Marcia Saraiva are leading two project proposals for Animal Health and Welfare within the framework of the European Partnership Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAHW).
WG 2. Biomolecular solutions as alternative methods and tools for fish-farm productionÂ
  • They are preparing for starting to write a review.
WG 5. Informed creativity, complementary WG.
  • They advanced with Springer regarding book writing (we are pending their final green light about it so that we can all start working on the chapters), and review several opportunities for writing a position paper and grant opportunities with other COST members.Â
  • They have organised the webinar focused on 'Phage therapy as an alternative to prophylcatic antibiotics in aquaculture production', given by Orr. There were 20 participants enjoying this interesting topic.
  • We recorded the 1st marterclass for the Action! By Orkid, titled "Computational Approaches and Big Data Analytics in Improving Fisheries and Aquaculture". You can view it at https://bioaqua-cost.eu/masterclasses/
Joint activities
  • We have reached agreements to cooperate with RethinkBlue, EU-LI-PHE, EURESTOP, Ocean4Biotech and MedPlants4Vet. For the on-going ones, the idea is the following:
    • Adding each other to the Action's general mailing lists so that we can be informed of on-going activities (e.g. these monthly highlights). This will be complemented in the future with crossed banners in each Action's website.
    • Exchanging the calendar of trainings, webinars, masterclasses and events.

    • Exploring the possibility to organise a stakeholder event altogether during P2. This will be explored during the 3rd MC meeting planned for september.
  • With Ocean4Biotech, which has already finished, we are exploring potential cooperation that could support the sustainability of BIOAQUA's network and results. Will come back to you after the 3rd meeting of the Management Board, which is planned for september.
